The history of the present Gandhi Ashram in Gorakhpur is also very old. In 1942, the Gandhi Ashram established in Urdu Bazar was sealed by the British. Then this Gandhi Ashram was started for the second time in 1959 at Golghar in Gorakhpur. The idols are made of mixed metals
On reaching Gorakhpur Gandhi Ashram, its manager Abhimanyu Tiwari said that Gandhi Ashram has always been known for its khaki and khadi. But the mixed metal sculptures at Gandhi Ashram are also an identity. These idols do not deteriorate for 25 to 30 years and we prepare them through an organization. The price of idols ranges from Rs.500 to Rs.1000 which includes the presence of many deities. These idols are washable but not perishable.
