Former Chief Secretary of Manipur J. Suresh Babu has been appointed as the Vice-Chancellor of Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU). RGU is the only central university in Arunachal Pradesh. Babu has been appointed for five years. Babu, who did MBBS from Guntur Medical College and MS from PGI-Chandigarh, retired as chief secretary of Manipur after serving 34 years as an Indian Administrative Service officer. Babu has experience in various fields like urban development, tobacco management, district administration, education, health sector, finance and covid management. Babu has also served as Chief Secretary, Additional Chief Secretary, Principal Secretary, Commissioner, Secretary, Director, District Magistrate and District Magistrate of various Directorates of Manipur.
