New Delhi. There is good news for the hundreds of patients deprived of treatment in Delhi’s major hospitals like AIIMS, RML and LNJP. Evening OPD services are now going to start at Delhi’s Safdarjung Hospital. Now those who have morning duty don’t have to wait for morning OPD. This will provide a lot of relief to patients who are unable to reach the OPD in the morning due to any reason or are facing the problem of long queues there. Although this service has already started in many government hospitals of Delhi government. Even AIIMS in Delhi has started evening OPD services in some departments.
In Delhi-NCR, not only local people but also people from UP-Bihar, Rajasthan, Haryana and Punjab as well as all over the country come for treatment. Many people are unable to get treatment even in the morning OPD in such a situation. Treatment of such people will start at Safdarjung Hospital from October 1. Now, for the convenience of patients at Safdarjung Hospital, there will be an opportunity to see patients in the OPD even after evening. From October 1, patients will be able to see a doctor till 6 pm by producing an OPD card at the hospital.
During the G20, emergency services will be available 24 hours at AIIMS Delhi, LNJP, Safdarjung and Ram Manohar Lohia hospitals.
Evening OPD services will start at Safdarjung Hospital
Registration of OPD card will be done from 11.30 am to 5.30 pm for showing in evening OPD. According to Dr. Bandana Talwar, Medical Superintendent of Safdarjung Hospital, currently this service is being started only for a few departments. Registration of evening OPD patients in Medicine, General Surgery and Pediatric Departments will start from October 1. It is believed to be the first hospital in the Government of India, where OPD services are available till evening.

Evening OPD services have already started in all government hospitals of Delhi government except Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi. This service has also been running at Delhi’s LNJP Hospital for the past few months. Even AIIMS Delhi has evening OPD services in some departments. Especially for kidney and heart related diseases, OPD services have been restored at AIIMS, Delhi only in the evening for a few years.
