Varanasi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of a Lord Shiva-themed cricket stadium in Varanasi on Saturday, September 23. Prime Minister Modi interacted with the public through a road show here. The Chief Minister of UP welcomed the Prime Minister at the foundation stone laying ceremony of the cricket stadium in Varanasi. On this occasion, cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, present there, presented a special jersey to Prime Minister Modi, with ‘NAMO’ written on it.
Built on land worth Rs 121 crore, the stadium cost an estimated Rs 330 crore. On reaching here, Sachin Tendulkar presented Prime Minister Narendra Modi with a cricket jersey with ‘NAMO’ written on it. It has Team India written on the front and the name ‘Namo’ printed on the back. BCCI President Roger Binny, Vice-President Rajeev Shukla and Secretary Jai Shah also participated in the programme. Sunil Gavaskar and Kapil Dev were also present to participate in the event.

The stadium will be completed by 2025
Prime Minister Modi laying the foundation stone of the Lord Shiva-themed cricket stadium in Varanasi will prove crucial in giving Kashi international recognition. It will have a seating capacity of around 30,000 people and will have unique designs such as crescent roof covering, trident shaped floodlights and lattice and lattice-like structures. The audience gallery will be similar to the stairs at Varanasi Ghat. The stadium is expected to be completed by December 2025.
