Under this phase of Assam Micro Finance Incentive and Relief Scheme 2021 (AMFIRS), those whose loan accounts have become NPA will be offered an outstanding principal balance of up to Rs.25 thousand.

2,22,949 borrowers benefited from this scheme
“Under this section, women in the state will again be able to get fresh loans with a total relief cost of Rs 291 crore,” Sharma said at a function here. He said that a total of 2,22,949 borrowers will benefit from this scheme. Lending institutions will waive interest and penalties to these women and issue them ‘no due’ certificates immediately.

The Chief Minister expressed gratitude to the microfinance institutions for agreeing to waive nearly Rs 300 crore of interest income under the Category-III relief scheme. He also appealed to the beneficiaries to repay the borrowed money on time.
Assam signed agreement for investment of Rs.3,214 crore
On the other hand, the Assam government on Saturday signed agreements with various companies to invest Rs 3,214 crore in the state. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma said at an event that his government hopes to attract investment of Rs 1 lakh crore in the state in the next two-three years. He said, “Today we have signed agreements with 6 companies for a total investment of Rs 3,214 crore. “It will create more than 5,000 jobs within a few years.”
