Pakistan’s World Cup journey was marred by disputes over players’ salaries and delays in their central contracts. How to earn money
PCB has its own constitution and generates its own revenue. This money is spent on the development of cricket in the country. It does not receive any grant or funding from the federal or provincial governments or the public treasury of Pakistan. He has to rely on his own resources to earn money. PCB’s major income comes from the title sponsorship of the International Cricket Council (ICC), the Pakistan Super League (PSL) and the sale of broadcasting rights for league, domestic and international matches.

ICC gets less share
When the ICC announced a revenue share of a percentage of the US$600 million pool of revenue in the 2024-2027 cycle, the PCB received a lower share. Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) got the highest share as expected. BCCI earned USD 230 million, which is 38.5 percent of ICC’s total revenue. On the other hand, PCB got 5.75 percent of the total amount, which earned it USD 34.51 million.

There is also a difference in the meaning of the award
The Indian Premier League (IPL) offers significantly more prize money than the PSL, reflecting the huge difference in financial scale and global viewership between the two leagues. Lahore Qalandars were awarded a cash prize of around Rs 3.40 crore for winning PSL 2023. Where the winning team in IPL gets a prize of 20 crore rupees. Chennai Super Kings won the IPL title last season.

How much money does PCB have?
PCB has a net worth of $55 million and is the second richest cricket board in Asia. But when compared to India, PCB is nowhere ahead of it. The amazing thing about BCCI’s dominance is that it is miles ahead of other countries. BCCI has a net worth of USD 2.25 billion (roughly over Rs 18,700 crore). Cricket Australia (CA) which is in second position with total assets of US$ 79 million (over Rs. 660 crore). This is why BCCI keeps showering money on its players.

Pakistan is facing loss due to IPL ban
While IPL is a major source of income for players around the world, the door is closed for Pakistani players as well. This league has made many players from other countries millionaires. But after the terrorist attacks in Mumbai in 2008, Pakistani players were banned from participating. This also adds to the financial headache of Pakistani players.
