Fear of heat wave across the country! Red alert in Odisha and Bengal, alert in Bihar too

IMD Weather Update: The rising heat across the country has made people uncomfortable at this time. The mercury has now crossed 45 or close to it in many states. Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red heat alert for Odisha and West Bengal. Apart from this, heat waves are predicted in many other parts of the country.

The Meteorological Department has issued an orange warning for heavy rains in Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh today. Additionally, heat wave is forecast over Bihar, Jharkhand, Rayalaseema, Interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu for the next four days. Kerala and Mahe between 29 and 30 April; Similar weather will prevail over Uttar Pradesh, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam from April 30 to May 1.

At the same time, between April 29 and 30, the Meteorological Department has predicted light rain with thundershowers over northeastern states of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, East Meghalaya, Nagaland and Manipur. Sikkim is likely to receive light to moderate rains with thundershowers from April 29 to May 1.

Weather for the next 24 hours
Many places of Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Ladakh, Jammu Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh are likely to experience light to moderate rain and snowfall during the next 48 hours. On April 29, Jammu and Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad and parts of Himachal Pradesh may experience heavy rain and snow. Uttarakhand may receive light rain.

Arunachal Pradesh may experience light to moderate rain and snowfall. Northeast India may receive moderate rain at one or two places with scattered light rain. Rain and storm may occur over parts of Vidarbha, Marathwada, Telangana, Chhattisgarh and south Odisha. Northern Punjab may experience light to moderate rain and thundershowers with isolated hail. North Haryana and North West Rajasthan may experience light rain and storm. Light scattered rain is likely over Kerala.
