The 600 year old church is now a beautiful house, it can be yours, there was a cemetery, you have to pay so many crores!

Renovating old buildings and selling them is not a unique thing. But sometimes when very old buildings built for other purposes are sold as new homes, that’s something to watch out for. Under such circumstances, it seems quite unusual if the building is a church with a cemetery over 600 years old. But a stunning converted church complete with its own graveyard could be yours – if you’ve got a spare £1.2 million to spend.

A cemetery on the property
Ironically, the nearly two acres of land included in the sale of the former parish church in the village of Clay Cotton in Northamptonshire is a cemetery. The building dates back to the 14th century and has been saved from demolition many times since then. In the early 2000s the house was converted into a four bedroom family home.

There is no shortage of beauty
There are tombs in the gardens as well as crypts under the floors of the houses. They are no longer in use. The house still retains some of its original features, including vaulted and beamed ceilings, stone staircases and vestibules.

Large area property
Estate agents Fine & Country say the house is a “master-planned” property. The listing says that St. Andrews Church is certainly a magnificently designed property. This Grade II listed house was originally the parish church and dates from the 14th century. The property is situated in the delightful village of Clay Cotton and is set in grounds extending to approximately 1.97 acres with a triple garage and three-bay stables with tack room.

Estate agent Jonathan Lloyd-Ham said only one person had called at the house since the property was converted. It is a very quiet place, very peaceful, completely surrounded by open fields and greenery. Since the conversion of the church the search has been ongoing.
