Why Delhi High Court granted 2 weeks parole to marry a murder accused?

New Delhi. The Delhi High Court has granted a two-week parole to a man sentenced to life imprisonment in a murder case to attend his engagement and wedding. While granting relief to the man, Rahul Dev, the court said that he had been granted parole earlier (January 29 to March 5) and had surrendered on time (March 6).

Justice Amit Sharma said, “In the light of all the facts and circumstances, the present application is allowed. “The applicant has been granted parole for two weeks.” Dev was convicted and sentenced to life in prison in 2014 for murder and charges of concealing evidence or giving false information.

She approached the court and requested to be granted parole for four weeks for her engagement and marriage. A wedding ceremony has been organized at the Arya Samaj temple on April 30. He is currently lodged in Mandoli Jail.

The court directed that the parole period of the accused shall be counted from the date of his release and asked him to surrender to the Superintendent of Jails on expiry of the parole period.
